The NGO Gender Coordination Network (NGO GCN), founded in 1998, is dedicated to coordinating the efforts of organizations focused on gender equality and women’s rights in Malawi. Our diverse membership includes NGOs committed to advancing gender-related issues, making us a leading voice on gender matters nationwide.

MEET OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Maggie Kathewera Banda is the founder and Executive Director of WOLREC, a women’s rights NGO in Malawi. With 24 years of experience, she has worked on gender-based violence and women’s empowerment projects. Recognized nationally, Maggie leads advocacy efforts for women’s rights, including Malawi’s Women’s Manifesto Movement.
Thandizo Mphwiyo is a seasoned professional with 10+ years of experience in gender issues and women’s rights advocacy. Holding an MSc in Environmental Science, she excels in leadership, project management, and partnership building, driving gender-transformative solutions for sustainable development and social justice.
Caroline Khumbo Mvalo, the current chairperson of the Gender Related Laws permanent committee, is a women rights activist with extensive experience in lobbying and advocacy. She has a strong track record both in the civil society and private practice. She has a great passion for promoting women, girls and the disability.
