UN WOMEN CONDUCTS PARTNERS COORDINATION MEETING
UN WOMEN CONDUCTS PARTNERS COORDINATION MEETING

In a thrilling move to enhance collaboration and strengthen efforts for women’s political empowerment, UN Women, the major development partner behind the Political Empowerment for Women in Malawi project, held an inspiring Partners Coordination Meeting at their Head Office in Lilongwe.

The goal was to strengthen collaboration among partners when implementing activities on elections.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including NGO Gender Coordination Network (NGO GCN), Malawi Police Service (MPS), Center for Multiparty Democracy (CMD), and Judicial Service Commission.

In his address, Programmes Associate for UN Women George Major Mbewe highlighted that Partners under UN Women support on elections need to identify better synergies for collaboration and coordination and work towards achieving common objectives in handling activities on elections.

Reacting on the development, Partners expressed gratitude and hailed the Development Partner to frequently organise such meetings to enhance collaboration efforts amongst themselves.

The partners therefore made a commitment to sharing knowledge, learning from one another, fostering relationships, and adopting best practices.

They also agreed to establish solid coordination mechanisms before, during and after electoral processes.

Political empowerment for Women in Malawi project is being implemented by NGO GCN with an aim to support and promote women’s participation in the electoral process. The project is being carried out in Phalombe, Balaka, Ntchisi and Nkhatabay with financial support from UN Women.
