About Us

The NGO Gender Coordination Network (NGOGCN) is a dynamic, national network formed to strengthen the voice of organizations working for gender equality and women’s empowerment in Malawi. Established in 1998, we are dedicated to advocating for gender justice, enhancing women’s rights, and promoting sustainable, community-driven change. With over 63 member organizations and 26 years of experience, NGOGCN has become a leading force for gender equality in Malawi. Our Mission Our mission is to ensure that gender equality becomes a reality in Malawi by:
  • Advocating for and influencing policies that promote women’s rights.
  • Empowering women and girls to achieve their full potential.
  • Strengthening gender-focused programs and initiatives.
  • Reducing barriers to equality, including violence, discrimination, and harmful cultural practices.
Our Vision We envision a Malawi where:
  • Women and girls enjoy equal rights, opportunities, and access to resources.
  • Gender equality is mainstreamed in all sectors of society, from governance to the economy.
Gender-based violence is eradicated, and women live in a world free from discrimination
