Due to the challenges many organizations face in securing grants from Development Partners, the World University Service of Canada (WUSC), a Canadian non-profit organization, conducted a Resource Mobilization and M&E Training workshop for WUSC Malawi Partner Staff. The workshop took place on March 24–25, 2025, at Mafumu Hotel in Lilongwe. Members of the NGO Gender Coordination Network and its affiliates also participated in the training to strengthen their capacity in securing donor funding.
The training aimed to equip WUSC partner staff with the knowledge and skills needed to identify, analyse, and pursue funding opportunities from various sources. It also sought to enhance their ability to develop high-quality proposals and concept notes, as well as to build their capacity in designing, implementing, and managing M&E systems. These systems help generate reliable data, measure impact, inform decision-making, and serve as a potential source of income for partner organizations.
WUSC Country Director, Godfrey Mphande, highlighted the importance of the training, emphasizing that it would address existing gaps within organizations, improve impact communication, enhance results delivery, and ensure alignment between organizational goals and collected data.
Loyce Tembo, Project Officer at the Forum for African Women Educationalists in Malawi and a member of the NGO Gender Coordination Network, praised WUSC for organizing the training. She noted that it would significantly contribute to developing strong funding proposals and effectively reporting results in line with M&E frameworks.
WUSC has been a key partner of the NGO Gender Coordination Network for over a decade.
